Strategy and transformation across digital, innovation, and sustainability.
I work directly with executives, senior leaders, founders, and their teams.
About
Mark Anderson is an independent executive advisor with over 20 years' experience across enterprise technology, strategy, and business transformation. He has held senior roles at some of the world's leading organisations, including as a Principal and Customer Success leader at SAP, and Director of Digital Services at Capgemini, before moving into independent practice.
Two decades of work across industries and geographies has given Mark both the strategic insight and practical delivery experience to step into complex situations, read them quickly, and drive things forward.
An experienced facilitator and speaker, he has presented at industry conferences, executive forums, and academic institutions on digital disruption, design thinking, and the circular economy.
He partners with senior leaders on the challenges that matter.

What I Do
01
Digital transformations succeed when business ambition and technology execution are aligned, and that requires understanding both with equal depth. Having worked across the vendor and consulting sides of major transformations, Mark brings a perspective shaped by strategy, technology, and delivery, and a deep understanding of the critical success factors that keep them connected. He understands the organisational and digital capabilities required to deliver measurable change across customer experience, operations, and business models, including a grounded view of where AI and emerging platforms create opportunity and where they introduce risk.
Make technology work for the business, not the other way around.
02
The best innovation rarely starts with the best idea. It starts with the best question. Mark's approach is problem-led, not technology-led. Drawing on the discovery disciplines at the heart of The Innovator's DNA, and two decades of work across industries and contexts, he works with organisations to reframe challenges, explore the solution space, and develop ideas with real commercial potential. That breadth across industries, disciplines, and domains surfaces opportunities that conventional thinking often misses. The same thinking informs the innovation management and governance work he does with clients, building the practices needed to make innovation repeatable, not occasional.
Better answers start with better questions.
03
Sustainability is a strategic imperative, and the circular economy encompasses some of the most effective business model responses available. Where linear models extract and dispose, circular models retain value, reduce exposure to resource volatility, and open new revenue streams. Mark brings formal credentials and deep practical experience to both the strategic framing of sustainability as competitive advantage and the harder work of designing the circular business models that actually deliver it.
Sustainability reduces harm. Circular economy redesigns the system.
How to Engage
Every engagement is deliberately lean. You work directly with Mark, your single point of contact from the first conversation to the final deliverable.
A sharp, independent assessment of a specific challenge or decision. Written findings, prioritised recommendations, and a presentation to walk through together.
A spatial data services firm invited to bid on a $500B infrastructure programme in Saudi Arabia
Facing an ambiguous tender scope and a fixed-fee requirement, the client needed a clear-eyed assessment before committing. Two days across eight dimensions, including scope, approach, inputs, commercial structure, resourcing, stakeholders, governance, and risk, produced a written analysis identifying three areas of material exposure and a specific response strategy the team acted on before submission.
A major Australian multi-brand retailer evaluating a significant operational investment
Called in to provide independent quality assurance on the business case before the investment decision was made. The review tested underlying assumptions, the financial model, and the strategic rationale, producing a set of recommendations incorporated into the final executive submission.
A focused engagement that takes a defined problem from ambiguity to clear recommendations. Follows a phased approach with regular check-ins to share findings, test thinking, and make decisions along the way.
Technology Strategy and Roadmap for a Queensland natural resource management not-for-profit protecting millions of hectares of land and marine environment
Rapid organisational growth had outpaced the technology infrastructure. Mark developed a multi-year technology strategy and roadmap: current state assessment, business capability modelling, technology stack evaluation, and a phased transition plan. Delivered as a board-ready document with clear investment priorities.
An ASX-listed home fittings and fixtures manufacturer transforming from a traditional B2B business to a consumer-led B2C model
Led a comprehensive transformation delivered through multiple Sprints, spanning primary consumer research and segmentation, brand and digital redesign, omnichannel strategy, and flagship store experiences. Included the company's first IoT-connected platform and mobile app, alongside an organisational change programme to embed consumer-led ways of working.
A retainer relationship for leaders who want an independent outside perspective to challenge assumptions and inform decisions. Shaped around agreed focus areas and a regular cadence.
Minimum three-month commitment.
A Middle East leader in spatial data services, working directly with its founder and managing director
Ongoing advisory relationship across business development, technology, process improvement, and commercial strategy. Independent counsel on key decisions as they emerge, with a deepening understanding of the business that adds value to every conversation.
ASX 200 and Fortune 500 clients across mining, energy, retail, transport, and financial services
With SAP and Capgemini, developed trusted advisory relationships with C-suite and senior executive stakeholders across some of Australia's largest corporations. Relationships earned through the quality of advice and consistency of delivery over multiple years.
Structured facilitation that turns a complex, multi-stakeholder challenge into aligned, owned decisions and clear next steps. Includes design, facilitation, and synthesis, delivered as a standalone session or as a series of workshops embedded within a broader project. An initial meeting to define what success looks like informs a tailored approach. Delivered in-person or virtually.
Australia's largest workers insurer, co-designing a new product with the state's largest employers
Led a 16-week design thinking engagement, structured around three intensive workshops, to co-design a new insurance product with senior stakeholders across the workers insurance system. Structured facilitation and narrative-driven artefacts, including themed workshop environments and comic-style outputs, kept a complex, multi-party stakeholder landscape engaged. In parallel, developed the operating models for the entire workers insurance business.
ANZ Plastics Challenge Workshop
Designed and delivered end-to-end, from concept and participant recruitment through to facilitation and outcomes. Brought together a deliberately diverse mix of participants from retail, consumer goods, academia, NGOs, and government for a two-day design thinking workshop exploring circular economy responses to plastic waste. The real outcome was a set of cross-sector relationships and shared sense of purpose that outlasted the event itself.
ASX 200 and Fortune 500 clients across mining, energy, retail, transport, and financial services
Led the design and facilitation of dozens of multi-stakeholder workshops from 2–100 participants across SAP and Capgemini, embedded within projects or standalone. Global facilitator for internal and external trainings and account planning for the largest strategic accounts.
Some engagements start with a problem that doesn't have a name yet. Let's talk. Mark will work with you to refine the brief and propose an approach designed specifically for your situation.
Fortnite game built for a global mining client
Client feedback was blunt: the approach to joint workshops was too product-focused and unimaginative. Brought in to challenge and reframe the approach, Mark conceived, funded, and delivered a fully playable Fortnite game built around the client's real operational challenge of spare parts inventory management in mining warehouses. Built in collaboration with a specialist studio, published on the Fortnite platform, and deployed at a major client program kick-off attended by over 60 cross-functional team members. The client described it as a completely unexpected and brilliant way to bring their team together around complex business challenges.
Experience
Across two decades, Mark has worked with organisations ranging from global enterprises to regional not-for-profits, across industries, geographies, and every phase of the transformation lifecycle.
